National A Cappella Championships: An Invitation For Friends
Dear friends of TAS, We are happy to invite your school choir and/or a cappella groups to partake in the championships! The Aca Champs, as it is endearingly known as, is a programme that aims to provide positive reinforcement for all participating groups through positive feedback, encouragement and non-political support for all groups. It also serves as an annual testing ground for local and new pop / jazz a cappella groups to compete against one another in a friendly environment, winning prizes that would enable them to reach more performance platforms and opportunities through the society. If you are unable to take part and would like to come and watch the qualifying round, it will be held in the afternoon of 27 June at The Republic Cultural Centre and admission is free. The High School category finals in the evening will also be free entry. We hope to see you there!

Showcase talents @ National A Cappella Championships '08! by The A Cappella Society
The Aca Champs, as it is endearingly known as, is a programme that aims to provide positive reinforcement for all participating groups through positive feedback, encouragement and non-political support for all groups. It also serves as an annual testing ground for local and new pop / jazz a cappella groups to compete against one another in a friendly environment, winning prizes that would enable them to reach more performance platforms and opportunities through the society. It has over the last 7 years become THE annual a cappella competition which singers look forward to attending and competing in, allowing them to watch and learn from other teams and for them to access for themselves, the development of standards across the categories each year.

A Cappella Championships
After another successful year for the A Cappella Championships we are already looking ahead to 08. Continuing with the trend of the last years we are seeking to grow the event further. Our current ideas focus on including international groups and choirs in new categories of the Championships.

A Cappella mania has all but exploded! In July, we saw some very exciting groups bring down the house at the National A Cappella Championships 2007. Of course, we were entertained by their gallimaufry of songs although one must admit there were hits and misses. From the very tedious “Lean On Me” to an ingenious rendition of Elijah Rock, the music and each group’s showmanship had something colorful to contribute to each night. We, at the A Cappella Society, are especially heartened to see the intense competition this year, as a result of the groups’ escalated standards. Yet, despite the close fights some groups have had, there can only be one winner. This year’s champions are:
