Agapella

AGAPELLA is derived from two words: ‘agape’, the Greek word used to describe God’s unconditional love, and ‘a cappella’, the art of making music with voices alone.

In the beginning…
We came together in August 2002, a bunch of young adults from different walks of life, but united by the desire to lift God’s name thru music. We firmly believe that God who has brought us together, keeps us together, and continues to give us the grace to sing about Him.
When not singing (which isn’t possible!), the folks in Agapella hold down exhilirating day jobs. Among them are a helicopter pilot, a food consultant, a radio talkshow host, an award-winning artist, a marketer, an advertising professional, a lawyer and a cultivator of young minds. If we were to tell you the other jobs we hold, you cannot live to see tomorrow.
Our desire and aim is to communicate the truths of God’s word and the reality of His love for all people, through diverse styles and genres of music. Our target audience is primarily youth, loosely defined as anyone between the ages of 25 and 35, or anyone who feels they are! We’re quite possibly the largest a cappella group this side of the musical world!

Our repertoire…
include upbeat contemporary Christian pop – like Testify To Love by Avalon – as well as traditional hymns and worship songs, such as The Lord Bless You And Keep You and We Are The Reason. We typically seek to weave short drama skits and testimonies into our performances as well.

The music of nanu includes pop and R&B music in several languages including English, Mandarin, Japanese and Tagalog. The group also writes it’s own music and is a supporter of local song writers. The strength of the group is its staple of singers, who each brings her individual unique style and approach to music – making and solo singing capabilities. An awesome ensemble to watch out for!
